When the world was split into two by the Iron Curtain, the International Festival of Puppetry Art was sometimes referred to as the University of Puppetry. Only at this festival, the audience had a chance to watch shows that were otherwise unavailable and meet artists from inaccessible parts of the world. Nowadays, these restrictions are gone. However, we can make use of this old and elevating name to build something new – something that will serve as a point of reference for future festival events. And so, four days of this year’s festival will be filled with thematic lectures given by outstanding practitioners and specialists in their fields. They will talk about their experience in directing, dramaturgy, stage design, and musical composition for theatre. The lectures are open to any person interested in expanding their knowledge about art, culture, and theatre.
